Rachel and Chad got married at the Womens Club on Quarrier Street in Charleston, WV. After a beautiful ceremony and a quick stop at the Capitol we headed to the reception at the Marriott Downtown.
I’ve known Rachel and Chad for a while – we met when Chads sister, Heather got married. Rachel caught the bouquet and the rest is history. Check out their engagement session!

A Gorgeous Disk Folio by ProDPI

I’ve recently been ordering folio’s from a few different companies to find the one. I do believe I have found the one and I’d like to share! ProDPI has officially won my heart with their ‘Fusion Folio’ comprised partly of silk fabric and partly of a photo. It is gorgeous! There are also full photo cover and full fabric options in many varieties of colors.

Estella – Seven Days Old

Most of the babies I photograph are farther along than just a few days or weeks. I’m talking months. So it was an absolute joy to get to work with teeny tiny Estella on her seventh day of life. Not to mention the experience of working with babies that young is not always idea. We were peed on and pooped on, but we prospered!

Shannon + Eric: Whitehall Manor – Bluemont Virginia

For the first time in what feels like ever, I do not have a wedding this weekend or the next three. It may seem like a luxurious month off, but this is actually when the real behind-the-scenes work begins. With five weddings and a bridal session in my editing cue from may/june madness and website updates and other general upkeep, it will be a busy month off from shooting weddings.

That said, if you’d like to book a session in the next month, you will also receive a gorgeous 16×20 mounted and ready to hang!

Since I’m not shooting a wedding this weekend, another wedding blog post seems appropriate. I’ve been thinking about Shannon and Eric’s wedding for a few weeks now, and when I realized I hadn’t blogged their amazingly stunning wedding at Whitehall Manor in Bluemont Virginia I knew it was time to share their love. Not only was the venue and atmosphere absolutely perfect, but Shannon and Eric and all of their family and friends made me feel right at home. We were constantly laughing (or crying – it’s amazing how fast one can form an emotional bond in just a short amount of time). I have nothing but perfect memories from their day.

Thank you, Shannon and Eric for allowing me the privilege of spending time with you and capturing your wedding day.

The Summer Syleena Turns 7

Syleena has been a blog favorite for the last 7 years. This year is no different. Except, this year IS different. This year, we got in my car – just the two of us, loaded with two cameras, two lenses and three outfits. We drove around looking for spots in between Shepherdstown Wv and Charles Town Wv to stop and shoot. We weren’t on a timeline and the goal was to 1. find a field of yellow for her mom and mawmaw (her idea) and 2. to find the spirt of this unique little 7 year old we all love so dearly through a series of photos. (my idea)

Syleena may be my niece, but she is one of the hardest subjects for me to photograph. Trying to have a serious moment sometimes proves difficult when both aunt and niece are used to being goofy 24/7, having slumber parties in the basement and filling hard drives with useless photobooth photos and videos.

In between the goofy photos of her dancing and posing I realized something else different about this 7 year old version of Syleena. She is growing up. She is mature in ways I hadn’t realized. She was actually listening to my direction and capable of understanding what I was asking her to do and then owned it.

And then of course, we had ice cream. :)
